As mentioned prior, WWE announced that Zack Ryder had suffered a knee injury on this weeks episode of Smackdown Live. Ryder won the battle royal to determine the number one contenders for the Smackdown tag team titles. He was noticeably in pain after the match ended and had to be helped to the back.
WWE announced that he would be getting an MRI. WWE’s Dr. Chris Robinson said the following after the match: “We think he injured his kneecap or his patella. We think it popped out and then popped back in, so we’re just going to do an MRI to make sure that there is not cartilage damage or some tendon tearing, stuff like that”.
PWInsider reports that according to their sources, Ryder is heading to Birmingham, Alabama which is where a majority of WWE stars get their surgeries done.
Zack Ryder confirmed this on Twitter, saying that he was on his way to Birmingham but not for a vacation:
Flew to Birmingham, Alabama this morning…and not for a vacation.
