You might have come across some rumors about the XFL returning on Friday night. It was first posted by Brad Shepard, who Tweeted that McMahon is “looking to bring back the XFL and may announce it on January 25th, 2018.”
David Bixenspan of Deadspin inquired about the rumors to WWE directly. He received an interesting statement back that doesn’t deny the rumors and also reveals a new self-funded entity from Vince.
Vince’s new entity will be called ‘Alpha Entertainment’ and will be separate from WWE. Here is the statement that Bixenspan received:
“Vince McMahon has established and is personally funding a separate entity from WWE, Alpha Entertainment, to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has nothing further to announce at this time.”
The statement doesn’t confirm that the XFL is returning but it does tell us that Vince is getting back into Football. Bixenspan also says that WWE has filed for two XFL trademarks over the past few months:

In what I’m sure is a complete coincidence, WWE filed for two new XFL trademarks this year, both long after the 30 for 30 premiered.

Update: A few more trademarks filed by WWE according to PWInsider:
“On September 26th, Alpha Entertainment applied to trademark “URFL”.
Also, in September, VKM Ventures applied to trademark “United Football League”, “UFL”, and “For the Love of Football”
