WWF 2001: WWF vs WCW Part 3 Preview King of the Ring “World Champions Collide”

As Judgment Day came to a close WCW World and United States Champion Booker T made a shocking appearance attacking Stone Cold Steve Austin after his Hell in a Cell WWF Title defense against Triple H. As WCW has launched the biggest shot to date the stage is now set for a match no one thought they would ever see in a WWF ring. But while Stone Cold and Booker T clash. The Undertaker seeks to find out the men who captured his wife. The King of the Ring Tournament takes place but little does the WWF know there about to lose one of there biggest stars…
King of The Ring Match Card and Build
June 24th, 2001 from Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJFirst Time Ever WWF Champion vs WCW World Champion WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin vs WCW World and United States Champion Booker T- The Night After Judgment Day Stone Cold Steve Austin came out toward the end of Monday Night Raw and cut a promo about his Hell in a Cell Match with Triple H and the debut of Booker T leading to Stone Cold to call out Booker T so he can stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry- Shane McMahon and the new WWF Hardcore Champion Mike Awesome would end up coming out as Shane would cut a promo telling Austin that he does not decide when Booker T is going to fight him as Shane then tells Austin that Booker T would rather fight him when the whole world is watching and he wants to do that at King of the Ring in the first WWF Champion vs WCW World Champion Match which Austin accepts and Shane then tells Austin that he and WCW are going to take matters and change the face of the WWF as they know it into there hands leading to Mike Awesome coming down as Austin and Awesome get into a brawl and Austin was getting the better of Awesome and was setting up for the Stunner until Booker T came in and hit Austin in the back of the head with the WCW World Championship as Booker T and Awesome would beat down Austin until members of the WWF Roster led by The Big Show would come out and chase off Booker, Awesome and Shane as all 3 went through the crowd

– On Smackdown Vince McMahon would come out and call out Stone Cold as Austin came out as Vince told Stone Cold he knows that for almost 4 years now they have been at each others throats and have beaten the holy hell out of each other at times but Vince tells Austin that they need to be united against the greatest threat the WWF has ever faced in WCW but Shane appears on the titantron and challenges Austin to put his WWF Championship on the line on Raw against the new WWF Hardcore Champion Mike Awesome which Austin accepts before Shane who was in the WWF production truck orders that they play a video package which turns out to be a video package to hype up Booker T

On Monday Night Raw Stone Cold retains the WWF Championship defeating Mike Awesome by DQ after Austin hit the Stunner but Booker T hit Austin with a Steel Chair across the back as he was making the cover as Booker T would beat down Austin again and Booker would throw Austin out the ring leading to Booker hitting the Book-End through the announce table as Booker and Awesome would again go through the crowd like last week with the WWF roster chasing them as this time Booker and Awesome would get into a limo that Shane had waiting on stand by and escape as Raw went off the air and on Smackdown Shane would come out and challenge Vince to let Booker T show why he will defeat Stone Cold at King of The Ring and proposes the first ever WCW World Championship match on Raw which Vince surprisingly accepts although he has the infamous McMahon smirk on his face as another Booker T hype video package plays later on in the night

– On Raw Booker T defends the WCW World Championship against Buff Bagwell as the match ends in a no contest when Stone Cold comes out and attacks both Booker and Bagwell with a chair although Booker is able to escape as Austin ends up beating the hell out of Bagwell and hits Bagwell with the Stone Cold Stunner to end Raw and on Smackdown Stone Cold ends up defeating Buff Bagwell in the main event only for Shane McMahon to come out and challenge Austin to a special gauntlet match on Raw where Austin will take on 4 WCW Superstars and if he can get by all 4 only then will he face Booker T which Austin accepts before he is attacked by Bagwell after the match but Austin fought back and like on Raw, Stone Cold hit Bagwell with the Stone Cold Stunner and Shane went down on the ramp as Austin was beating down Bagwell and got onto the apron and thought about going into the ring attacking Austin but as soon as Austin turned around Shane had second thoughts and got off the apron as Austin flipped Shane the double bird to end Smackdown

– On the final Raw before King of the Ring, Austin competes in the special gauntlet match against Chavo Guerrero, Mike Awesome, The Impact Players and lastly scheudled to be Booker T as Austin ends up getting through Chavo, Awesome and Justin Credible and as he hit Lance with the stunner Shane McMahon came out and pulled the ref out before laying him out with a right hand as the match ends up being thrown out as Austin ends up attacking Shane and was setting him up for the Stunner until Booker comes through the crowd attacking Austin as Booker ends up hitting the Sisscors Kick as WCW stands tall over Stone Cold Steve Austin to end Raw and on Smackdown, Stone Cold as he arrived at the building and was attempting to get interviewed before Austin said that tonight he was going to make a example out of one of the WCW bastards and Austin would end up attacking Chavo Guerrero during his match with Scotty 2 Hotty beating the hell out of him before hitting the Stunner to send a message to Booker T before there match at King of the Ring.

King Of The Ring Tournament The Semi Final Matches are Kurt Angle vs WWF European Champion Jeff Hardy and WWF Intercontinental and WWF Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho vs Edge

– The Night After Judgment Day on Monday Night Raw, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit received a rematch for the WWF Tag Team Championship and defeated Edge and Christian to win the WWF Tag Team Championship and on Smackdown Jericho and Benoit would retain the titles in the first ever Fatal Four Way TLC Match against The Dudley Boys, The Hardys and E&C

– Kurt Angle returned to Raw the following week cutting a promo declaring his intention to enter the King of the Ring Tournament that would start the following week and become the first ever back to back winner of the King of the Ring leading to Chris Jericho coming out cutting a promo proceeding to declare his own intentions of entering the King of the Ring and proceeded to mock Angle about tapping out to Benoit at Judgment Day leading to William Regal coming out and informing Jericho that he would have a match right now against Triple H as Jericho ended up winning the match and Triple H tore his quad during the match and on Smackdown Kurt Angle would attack Jericho backstage when Jericho got to the building

– Kurt Angle’s road to the semi finals saw Angle defeating Kane in the first round and Matt Hardy in the quarterfinals as Angle even had to retain his spot in the tournament by defeating Chris Benoit in a Steel Cage Match on Raw

– Jeff Hardy’s road to the semi finals saw Hardy defeating Test in the first round and Perry Saturn in the quarterfinals

– Chris Jericho’s road to the semi finals saw Jericho defeating Tajiri in the first round and Rhyno in the quarterfinals

– Edge’s road to the semi finals saw Edge defeating Hardcore Holly in the first round and Christian in the quarterfinals

The Undertaker calls out the Masked Men

– The Night After Judgment Day on Monday Night Raw, The Undertaker would come out and destroy The Hollys and Perry Saturn/Dean Malenko as Taker would cut a promo about the masked men kidnapping his wife at Judgment Day and challenges the masked man who kidnapped his wife to show up on Smackdown so he can beat his ass and make him famous. On Smackdown The Undertaker’s song played but The Masked Man came out on the Undertaker’s motorcycle and as The Masked Man was about to talk The Undertaker comes out and gets into a brawl with the masked man and was going to remove his mask until he saw his wife Sara on the titantron tied up in the boiler room and Taker decided to spare the masked man to go and save his wife as Taker would get to the boiler room but by the time he got to the boiler room Sara was gone and the other two masked men would attack Taker until Kane came in to save Taker as the two masked men ran off

– The Undertaker would come out on Raw and cut another promo about the masked men saying that he is sick and tired of the games because he wants his wife back leading to a video package being played of home footage of Sara as Taker would get pissed and leave the ring and on Smackdown, Taker would defeat Dean Malenko as the same video package of Sara would play after the match

– Over the next few weeks more video packages of Sara would play as Taker would interrogate WWF superstars to see if they had any idea where Sara was but they would deny it until the final Raw before King of the Ring as Taker would call out The Masked Men to show up at King of the Ring because he will beat all 3 of there asses and will make them famous and get his wife back and on Smackdown a video package from The Masked Men plays as they accept The Undertaker’s challenge and tell Taker they will bring Sara with them to make her watch the destruction of her husband The Undertaker

Street Fight The Big Show vs WCW Owner Shane McMahon

– The Night After Judgment Day on Monday Night Raw The Big Show destroys Billy Gunn in there match and The Big Show got on the mic after the match cutting a promo about Shane McMahon screwing him over at Judgment Day and challenges Shane McMahon to a match which leads to Shane coming out and distracting The Big Show allowing Mike Awesome to come through the crowd and hit The Big Show with a Steel Chair that had no effect and Big Show was seemingly going to chokeslam Awesome but Shane came in and grabbed the chair and hit his signature flying chair shot knocking The Big Show out cold as Shane and Awesome left the ring with Big Show knocked out in the middle of the ring but later in the night The Big Show came out with members of the WWF roster to save Stone Cold from a beating by Shane/Awesome/Booker T and on Smackdown, Shane would decline The Big Show’s challenge for a match saying that WCW has got more important fish to worry about

– On Raw, Shane McMahon cut a promo about the WWF Champion vs WCW World Champion Match at King of the Ring until The Big Show came out and gave Shane one more chance to accept his challenge for a match which Shane would decline until The Big Show grabbed him by the throat and threatened to chokeslam him through the mat like he did The Undertaker only then that’s when Shane would accept the challenge as Big Show would let Shane go and leave with a smirk on his face. On Smackdown it would be announced that The Big Show vs Shane McMahon match would take place at King of the Ring.

-On Raw, The Big Show would have a match defeating Dean Malenko but after the match is whacked in the back by a singapore cane from Shane McMahon which has no effect as Big Show ends up chasing Shane to the parking lot where The Big Show is attacked by a group of WCW Wrestlers including WWF Hardcore Champion Mike Awesome, Chavo Guerrero and The Impact Players as Shane and the WCW wrestlers beat down The Big Show and on Smackdown The Impact Players and Chavo Guerrero defeats The Big Show and X-Factor’s The WWF Light Heavyweight Champion X-Pac and Albert with help from Shane McMahon while the ref distracted with Shane knocking The Big Show out with the flying steel chair shot

– On The Final Raw before King of the Ring in a backstage segment Vince informs Shane that since he is a competing in a WWF Ring at King of the Ring then that gives him the right to make the match between him and The Big Show a Street Fight and on Smackdown The Big Show defeated and destroyed Steve Blackman in a Street Fight to send a message to Shane before there street fight
