News broke on Monday that WWE was close to a deal with FOX to air Smackdown. This will be for when WWE’s current television deal expires in October 2019. The news teased that the deal was big but didn’t specify any numbers.
According to a new report, we have some more details on this deal, including the amount of money WWE will be making.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, WWE’s new deal with FOX will be for 5 years. It is said to be worth over $1 Billion dollars. That is right, billion with a ‘b’.
That would be around $205 million annually, three times more than what WWE is currently making in their deal with NBC Universal.
Also, according to the report, there was an offer from a third-party that was actually worth more money. WWE executives chose FOX because of their sports portfolio that includes the NFL and MLB.
Rumors also suggest that the show could be moving to a new night. We will have to wait and see.
