Backstage heat seems to be a hot topic in the world of WWE right now. Over the past few weeks, there have been multiple reports about Lio Rush generating some heat backstage for his actions. We have more some news to pass your way about a writer that has generated some heat backstage.
According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, writer Jen Pepperman brought her daytime Emmy Award into the production meeting for RAW this week.
For those unaware, Pepperman just won a Daytime Emmy For Outstanding Directing in a Digital Drama Series for her show, “After Forever.”
According to Sapp, Pepperman placed the Award on the table in front of her during the production meeting. Here is an excerpt from the report:
“Those we spoke to called the move “blind arrogance,” and was seen walking around backstage after the production meeting with the Emmy. Several members of the team “zinged” her about the gesture, but she thought they were all joking in regards to it. In addition, it was said that she flew commercial with her Emmy accompanying her”
Sapp adds that Pepperman is generally well-liked backstage. Since WWE has never won an Emmy Award, the move was said to have given her some immediate heat backstage.
My Take: From an outside perspective, this makes a lot of people backstage sound childish. She just won the biggest award of her life and people are mad at her for it. If it was me, I wouldn’t bring the award into production meeting, but I am not going to fault someone for being proud of their work. This is just my opinion but it definitely seems like the work environment in WWE is toxic.
