We noted prior that the WWE announced on Thursday morning the creation of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. This tournament will run on January 14th and 15th, airing on the WWE Network. Triple H also announced a weekly show featuring the talent on the WWE Network after the tournament concludes.
A few of the biggest names from the UK wrestling scene were announced as competitors, including:
Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Wolfgang, Tyson T-Bone, Tucker, Jordan Devlin, Roy Johnson, Joseph Conners, HC Dyer, Jack Starz, Sam Gradwell, James Drake, Dan Moloney, Chris Tyler, Saxon Huxley, Ringo Ryan and Tiger Ali.
There has been a lot of speculation that this was WWE trying to control the UK wrestling scene by snatching up a lot of the talent. William Regal reportedly provided an update to other UK promotions, letting them know that the competitors involved will have ‘Zero Restrictions’ when it comes to working elsewhere:
William Regal confirmed to us that there are “zero restrictions” on any of the wrestlers working for other UK promotions.

This is good news. There was a lot of worry that this announcement could be the end of smaller promotions in the UK. Glad this doesn’t look to be the case.
