WWE Summerslam 2020 Rumors & Spoilers

4) More Scrapped Plans For Asuka At Summerslam

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE changed up the plans that they originally had for Asuka at Summerslam (for a second time).

Asuka was originally planned to face the person who injured Kairi Sane backstage. Those plans were scrapped and they put the RAW Women’s Title on Sasha Banks instead:

“There were so many changes made including the Asuka and Sasha Banks stuff. That was all changed. Originally Asuka was going to defend the title against whoever injured Kairi and that was as of, at least Sunday night or Monday morning of last week right before the tapings [and] they tore that all up.”

My Take:

  • I would be fine with Asuka vs Sasha again at Summerslam. They have some great chemistry with one another and will be one of the best matches of the night.

3) Brock Lesnar’s Status For Summerslam

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer says that Brock Lesnar is not expected to return to WWE for Summerslam or anytime soon.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Lesnar is not scheduled for this year’s SummerSlam show. One of the reasons he put over McIntyre so strongly was because he was not coming back any time soon. Heyman has not been brought to television since he was let go as head of Raw creative.

My Take:

  • I am fine with Brock not being on television right now. I am sure that WWE wants him for ratings help but I haven’t missed him yet.

2) The Original Summerslam Plans For Roman Reigns

According to Ringside News, there were two options that were originally being discussed for Roman Reigns at Summerslam. This was prior to Reigns pulling himself from WWE due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report says that it was either going to be Roman vs Braun Strowman or Roman vs Bray Wyatt at the event:

Ringside News has learned WWE’s plans if Roman Reigns was able to make a return in time for the biggest party of the summer. We were told that there were two options being discussed for Roman Reigns. He was either going to face Bray Wyatt or Braun Strowman.

Roman Reigns seemingly isn’t coming back in time for those matches to happen. Now Wyatt and Strowman are currently slated to face each other at SummerSlam instead.

My Take:

  • If I had to guess, WWE would have done Roman vs Braun at Summerslam. I think that they would have saved Roman vs The Fiend for Wrestlemania 37. Both matches are great options for WWE in the future.
