Summerslam is coming up soon! The event takes place on August 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It will be headlined by the match between Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship. Here are some of our bold WWE Summerslam 2017 predictions.
Prediction #1
The Veterans (Cena and Orton) Put Over The Younger Stars (Corbin and Rusev)
This years Summerslam card features two big singles matches. Those would be John Cena vs Baron Corbin and Randy Orton vs Rusev.
We are predicting that both younger stars (Rusev and Corbin) are going to walk away as the winners.
Let’s face it, both Cena and Orton do NOT need the wins here. At this point in their careers, wins and losses don’t matter. Wins for Corbin and Rusev on the other hand could be really big for them moving forward in their careers.
A win against Orton would be an excellent catapult for Rusev to become one of the top heels on Smackdown Live. A loss here really kills any momentum he has and it will be back to the drawing board.
Corbin on the other hand needs the win after losing his Money in the Bank contract. Fans are calling him a joke and saying that his career is over. A loss against Cena will only hurt him more. If he defeats Cena here, he will gain back some legitimacy that he lost.
I think (and hope) WWE makes the right call here and elevates some younger talent.
Prediction #2
The Jinder Mahal Experiment Ends At Summerslam
Jinder Mahal will defend his WWE Championship at Summerslam against Shinsuke Nakamura. This came after Nakamura defeated John Cena on Smackdown Live.
We think that Nakamura is going to defeat Jinder. As a result, this will end WWE’s experiment of Jinder as Champion. Let me explain the reason why I think this.
We all know that Jinder was made Champion in order to help boost WWE’s popularity in India. If WWE planned on keeping the title on Jinder for the next few months, why would they have him defeat Nakamura at Summerslam and not Cena?
It is hard to deny that Jinder defeating Cena on a big stage like Summerslam would have been massive for him and his title run. If WWE wanted to boost Jinder up more than they already have, they would have had him face and defeat Cena aka the 16-time World Champion. The fact that WWE went with Nakamura and passed up this opportunity has us thinking that they are finished with Jinder being Champion and the title will be changing hands.
We expect a new Champion at Summerslam, sorry Jinder.
