Now that 2018 is coming to a close, we have put together our own version of Awards to celebrate some awesome stuff that happened in WWE in 2018. We tried to use similar awards to what the Slammy’s had in the past. Note: This only includes the WWE main roster (you can read our 2018 NXT Awards here). Below are our WWE Slammy Awards 2018 winners.
WWE Slammy Awards 2018
14) 2018 Rivalry of The Year Award
– Our Winner: Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair
My pick for the rivalry of the year on the WWE main roster is Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
It really kicked into high gear at Summerslam, where Becky turned on Charlotte. After that, they went on to put on some good matches against one another. This included a Match of the Year candidate at Evolution. It also included a great match at TLC with Asuka involved.
This is the rivalry that sticks out to me the most this year on the main roster. I don’t think I can justify putting another one over it.
13) 2018 Double-Cross of the Year Award
– Our Winner: Dean Ambrose Turns On Seth Rollins
After winning the RAW Tag Team Titles back in October, Dean Ambrose turned on Seth Rollins. This wins our award for the double-cross of the year.
The reason why it wins the award is that the heel turn was done on the night that Roman Reigns announced to the world that his leukemia had returned. Emotions were high and WWE capitalized on it for maximum heat for Dean.
Based on the circumstances surrounding Reigns, this turn wins the award by a landslide.
12) 2018 “Tell Me You Didn’t Just Say That” Insult of the Year
– Our Winner: Ronda Rousey Rips Nikki Bella
The most memorable insult of the year to me was Ronda Rousey ripping into Nikki Bella during their feud. After Nikki said that she has broken down doors for many WWE Superstars, Ronda replied with:
“The only door you’ve ever knocked down was the one to John Cena’s bedroom.”
This was a pretty good burn that ended up really popping the crowd in attendance and watching at home. It sticks out to me as the best insult of the year.
