2017 Female Superstar Of The Year Award

IWNerd’s Pick:  Asuka

• I decided to go with Asuka as my female superstar of the year for 2017. I think that it is an accomplishment in itself that fans are still loving her, even though she hasn’t lost a match.  Asuka’s matches this year against Nikki Cross and Ember Moon were great. This was a tough choice as I could see an argument for Alexa Bliss based on her accomplishments this year. I decided to go with Asuka and I am sticking to it.

Michael’s Pick:  Asuka

• The WWE was never ready for Asuka and it might never be.  Asuka had achieved so much in NXT and had beat every competition available to her that it only makes sense that she would be taking her talents to South Beach as Lebron James would say.  She has accomplished an achievement so huge that even the likes of Goldberg were congratulating her on her impressive undefeated streak that is still going on in the main roster today.  Leaving NXT in 2017 with her impressive 523-day reign as champion has cemented Asuka as one of the greatest superstars of NXT & the true Empress of RAW’s Tomorrow.

IWNerd’s Pick:  AJ Styles

• This one was a tough one for me as I could see Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman or the Miz being the top choices for a lot of fans. Since the decision was so close, I decided to go with AJ Styles, who carried Smackdown Live on his back over the past year. His matches with John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Finn Balor and Shane McMahon were some of my favorites this year. Styles is my pick for the second year in a row.

Michael’s Pick:  AJ Styles

• Smackdown Live is the house that AJ Styles built & it’s not just a saying, it’s a way of life!  At Style’s age, you’d be surprised that he is one of WWE’s best in-ring performers, one of the best on the mic & he’s shown no signs to slow down.  In 2017, he has gone on to boost the US Title to a status that made it the top title on Smackdown.  And speaking of which, Styles winning back the WWE Championship is now putting Smackdown back to where it needed to be.  Ratings have improved every single week since Styles had won back the WWE Championship & with his win at Clash Of Champions, looks like WWE has finally agreed that AJ Styles is the top guy that SDLive always needed.
