WWE Slammy Awards 2017 – Our 14 Award Winners

It looks like WWE is not doing the 2017 Slammy Awards. We thought that we would create the unofficial awards, where we give props to some of the best stuff in WWE today. We had some help from Michael Chau (@MichaelChauTV), who also shared his picks with us. We have chosen 14 award winners for the year and gave a brief explanation of why we think that they deserve it! Here are your unofficial WWE Slammy Awards 2017 winners! (Note: We chose to include NXT in these awards).

2017 Rivalry of The Year Award

IWNerd’s Pick:  Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns

• It feels like these two feuded forever but I found myself entertained for the entire time. We have seen them compete against one another for the majority of the year. We heard some great quotes like: “I’M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU”. There were some great moments like when Reigns crashed an ambulance with Strowman still inside. I think that working with Reigns has really helped elevate Braun into the star that he has become. Overall, I enjoyed the heck out of this feud and I think it deserves some props.

Michael’s Pick:  The New Day vs The Usos.

• When I’m looking for a great rivalry, I’m looking for a beginning, middle & a great conclusion. The New Day & The Usos’s half a year feud had delivered on all aspects. Every match that The Usos vs The New Day had was absolute gold, it all culminated in a great finale when The Usos defeated The New Day in the 1st ever tag team Hell In A Cell. This rivalry has done wonders for both tag team’s careers & this rivalry alone is considered by many as the beginning for breathing new life into Smackdown’s once-failing tag team division

2017 Surprise Return Of The Year Award

IWNerd’s Pick:  Matt & Jeff Hardy – Wrestlemania 33.

• As a major Hardy Boyz fan growing up, this was an incredible moment for me as I am sure it was for many other wrestling fans. It was a genuine surprise to everybody watching and the pop that they received was incredible. This was easily the highlight of Wrestlemania 33 for me and I remember re-watching the moment multiple times with a smile on my face. Loved the way that WWE presented it too, with the New Day coming out and announcing them. Overall it was an amazing moment and one of my favorite returns in the past few years. Will be hard to top!

Michael’s Pick:  Matt & Jeff Hardy – Wrestlemania 33.

• The Hardy Boyz are one the best tag teams of all time. They had even improved themselves when they had left the WWE and had found new life in TNA. We always knew that the prodigal sons would return but when the Hardyz had appeared for ROH a month before Wrestlemania, it seems that our chances were obsolete. However, when The New Day appeared during WWE’s biggest event saying another tag team was to be added to RAW’s Tag Team Championship match, it was music to our ears & the biggest highlight of the night. There’s really only one word to describe that shocking return, just simply wonderful!
