This week’s episode of Smackdown Live saw Shinsuke Nakamura defeat John Cena. As a result, Nakamura will face Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship. Nakamura won the match clean after a kinsasha (and after a scary bump where Cena landed on his head).
It looks like this wasn’t the original plan for the finish of the match.
The original article posted on WWE.com after the match shared a much different finish than what we saw happen. It looks like the WWE.com crew didn’t get the memo that the finish had changed or they made a mistake.
The finish in the original article was still Nakamura winning but not cleanly. Corbin was to interfere, trying to cost Nakamura the match. He would inadvertently help Nakamura defeat Cena. The end result would have been the same (Nakamura vs Jinder) but how we got there would have been different.
This didn’t happen and Corbin ended up attacking Nakamura & Cena once Smackdown went off the air.
