For the past year, there have been rumors circulating about a potential match between the Four Horsewomen of WWE (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch) and the Four Horsewomen of MMA (Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir).
WWE even teased this match at the Mae Young Classic. Charlotte, Becky, and Bayley confronted Rousey, Duke, and Shafir outside of the arena. It was clear that seeds were being planted for a future match.
As of a few months ago, there were rumors that suggested this match was being saved until Wrestlemania 34. Rousey, Duke, and Shafir were reportedly doing some wrestling training in order to prepare.
So was it scrapped?
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the Four Horsewomen match might have been scrapped. Meltzer says that Duke and Shafir are no longer training for pro-wrestling, which could be an indication that the match has been changed. Meltzer also says that Baszler is being promoted as a big debut in NXT soon, where it would have made more sense to save her debut with the other Horsewomen if they were doing that angle still.
It remains unclear what that means for Ronda and WWE. Rumors have been circulating that she could appear in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. You could also speculate that WWE is saving Ronda for a singles match at Wrestlemania instead of in a multi-person match.
Would you rather see Ronda in a singles match or involved with the Four Horsewomen? Or, would you not like to see her appear at all?
