Controversy struck the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View on Sunday night. The first ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match was won by a man. James Ellsworth pulled down the briefcase and handed it to Carmella for the victory.
Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan immediately tweeted their displeasure, along with the Women’s locker room.
Here are some rumors floating around about what could happen.
Dave Meltzer was a guest on the LAW: Live Audio Wrestling after the event. He speculates that Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan might announce that the match will be restarted. This might happen on an upcoming episode of Smackdown for a ratings boost for WWE. If you have been keeping up with the ratings as of late, they haven’t been great to say the least.
Meltzer also says that since fans aren’t paying $50+ for Pay-Per-Views anymore, it doesn’t matter as much that they would be giving away a Money in the Bank match on television.
Take with a grain of salt because it is only speculation. Certainly seems like the direction that we will be heading after the tweets that we mentioned from Daniel, Shane and the WWE Women.
Maybe this time Ellsworth is banned from ringside?
