Many WWE fans are confused and asking where the heck is Rusev? The ‘Bulgarian Brute’ was featured in a video on Smackdown Live a few weeks ago. He told Shane McMahon that he wanted a WWE Championship opportunity at Money in the Bank.
He also tweeted that he would be showing up on the May 16th episode of Smackdown Live to confront Shane. This never happened and we haven’t heard from Rusev since.
So what the heck happened?
The Wrestling Observer reports that Rusev is in limbo with Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion. Rusev was originally supposed to face Randy Orton for the WWE Title at the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View. This was clearly being teased by WWE on Smackdown Live with Rusev demanding a title shot from Shane or he wouldn’t report to the blue brand.
WWE seemingly changed their minds and made Jinder Mahal champion at Backlash. As a result, this has left Rusev with nothing to do at the moment.
It is unclear if WWE will find a way to add him into the Money in the Bank ladder match or if he will just be on the sidelines for the time being. It certainly seems like the recent push of Jinder has led to Rusev taking a backseat.
