Shinsuke Nakamura defeated John Cena on the August 1st episode of Smackdown Live. The story after the match was how Cena took a scary bump, landing directly on his head after taking the ‘exploder suplex’ from Nakamura.
After the match, Nakamura apologized. Cena responded by saying that he has nothing to be sorry about. As we know now, Cena was (thankfully) able to escape any serious injury.
Vince Isn’t Happy
According to a new report from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Vince McMahon was furious with Nakamura after the match. For those worried about Nakamura, the report says McMahon’s anger was more in defense of John Cena, who has been a pillar of WWE for the past 15 years.
Even though he was pissed, Vince reportedly hasn’t lost faith in Nakamura. Though, if he makes another big mistake like that, Vince’s opinion might sour on ‘the King of Strong Styles’ according to the report.
We also saw a report a few days ago from PWInsider that said backstage officials viewed the incident as a fluke accident. Also, here was Dave Meltzer’s thoughts when asked if Vince was furious with Nakamura:
I’m sure he wasn’t happy, but I haven’t heard anything specific. https://t.co/y3luhaG1v0

Somewhere the truth probably lies in the middle. Vince was likely not pleased with Nakamura and concerned about the well-being of Cena. Let’s just all be happy Cena is okay!
