On Monday Night RAW this week, John Cena and Roman Reigns went face-to-face in the middle of the ring. WWE was clearly planting the seeds for a future match between the two. Also, Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman was announced for the ‘No Mercy’ Pay-Per-View, a match that many felt like could be saved for Wrestlemania.
Here are the latest rumors on what the Wrestlemania 34 main event will end up being.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), the current plan is Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34.
It was supposed to happen at Summerslam, but WWE decided to go with the fatal 4-way instead. As a result, Meltzer says that right now, the plan is for Lesnar vs Reigns to happen in New Orleans.
This would explain why they are doing Strowman and Brock right now instead of saving it for a bigger show. It would also make sense why they are planting seeds for Cena vs Reigns several months before Wrestlemania. If Meltzer is spot on here, Reigns vs Cena could happen at one of the events prior to Wrestlemania (because why else would they be planting seeds right now?).
Plans can change over the next few months so take with a grain of salt. As of right now, it looks like we could be getting a rematch of Wrestlemania 31 as our main event.
