Jinder Mahal defeated Shinsuke Nakamura at Hell in a Cell to retain his WWE Championship. This came after Jinder hit ‘the Khallas’ in the middle of the ring for the pinfall victory.
We are going to guess that Jinder will be moving on to a new challenger for his WWE Title. Here are some of the latest rumors and also our speculation on what could happen next.
Jinder Mahal’s Next Title Challenger
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio speculated that it could be AJ Styles as the next WWE Championship challenger. The idea would be that AJ might be able to get a good match out of Jinder based on his talent.
(Our Speculation:) This makes sense to us. AJ lost the United States Title at the event to Baron Corbin and teased that he wanted his rematch soon. WWE could have him lose the rematch to Corbin on Smackdown and move AJ out of the U.S title picture completely. Also, if anyone can get a good match out of Jinder, it would be AJ.
The thing that doesn’t make much sense is that AJ teased a big match after Hell in a Cell. He teased teaming up with Shane McMahon to face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. It would make sense if this was saved for Survivor Series. So where does Jinder figure in here? WWE might have Jinder as the captain of Team Smackdown at Survivor Series and as a result, his title wouldn’t be defended at the event. After Survivor Series, WWE could start the AJ vs Jinder feud.
If it is not AJ right away, I am not really sure where else WWE could go. Maybe Bobby Roode but it seems too early for him to jump into the WWE Title picture.
