Bayley defeated Sasha Banks on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. As a result, she earned herself a RAW Women’s Championship match at Summerslam against Alexa Bliss. This was a bit of a surprise to fans since Sasha was the clear favorite heading into the match. This was based on Bayley already having a few title matches with Alexa over the past few months.
So why Bayley and not Sasha Banks getting the big match at Summerslam? Let’s dive into the subject a little more.
On Wrestling Observer Radio after RAW (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez speculated into what could happen at Summerslam.
The first suggestion from Meltzer was that it seems like Bayley will be winning the title based on Alexa already beating her a few times. This would eventually lead to Bayley vs (heel) Sasha as the next big program for the title.
Alvarez suggested that Sasha could turn heel at Summerslam, costing Bayley the match. This would set up a Bayley and Sasha feud. Alexa vs Nia Jax would be the next program for the title in this scenario.
It certainly seems like either Bayley wins the title at Summerslam or Sasha costs her the match. Don’t really see the point in having Bayley losing clean again to Alexa Bliss.
