The Summerslam card this year is already looking pretty stacked. The event will be headlined by the Fatal 4-way match for the WWE Universal Title between Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. The event also features a match between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship.
The card is shaping up nicely but there will likely be several matches that don’t actually make the card due to time constraints. Here are the latest rumors on what could be getting left off the card.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), The Miz vs Jason Jordan for the Intercontinental Championship might not happen at Summerslam. The feeling backstage is that it might be too soon for Jason Jordan to be tossed into a big title match like that. Could also be rushing things a bit (storyline wise) since there is only a few weeks until the event.
Also, some other matches that might get left off the Summerslam card due to time constraints:
- Big Show vs. Big Cass
- Sami Zayn vs. Mike Kanellis
- Breezango vs who their attackers are
We will have to wait and see what happens. Some of these things might take place in the next few weeks before the event. Others might be held off until after Summerslam when there is more room to build.
