As of writing this, there hasn’t officially been a match confirmed for this years Summerslam Pay-Per-View. Already there are rumors circulating that we could be seeing a big title change at the event.
The title that is at the forefront of all of the rumors is the WWE Universal Championship. Let’s explain some of the rumors that are going around about why the title could be changing hands at Summerslam.
There has been a lot of rumors over the past 24 hours or so regarding Brock Lesnar. The biggest piece of news that came out of it had to do with Brock reportedly telling WWE that he currently doesn’t plan to re-sign with the company when his contract expires (just after Wrestlemania 34). It still remains unclear if this is a negotiation tactic by Brock or if he really plans to end his wrestling career. This has made things very interesting.
Would Vince want to keep the belt on somebody who just told him that he is leaving next year?
MMA insider (@TalkMMA) was the first person to report the rumors of Brock Lesnar possibly returning to the UFC. He has broken some MMA stories in the past and had this to say about Brock at Summerslam:
He’s said to be giving up the title to Roman at #SummerSlam https://t.co/oednolBbAJ

After the July 17th episode of RAW, it is rumored that we could be seeing a fatal 4-way match for the Universal Title at Summerslam. This would be between Brock, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman. If this happens, it would allow for Brock to drop the title without getting pinned. This would be a convenient spot for a title change if this fatal 4-way happens.
A lot can change over the next few weeks but if these rumors are true, we could be seeing a big title change at Summerslam this year. Reminder as always to take rumors with a grain of salt.
