There are a ton of rumors floating around the web right now about WWE and their next TV deal. Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), dove into this topic. This includes some interesting points about the future of WWE and a potential sale.
Here are some of the highlights. Note: rumors and speculation should be taken with a grain of salt as always.
– Meltzer says there is a lot of media speculation about WWE potentially moving from the USA Network over to FOX for their next TV deal. Triple H had a preliminary meeting with FOX several months ago. The belief is that if FOX doesn’t lock down the UFC, they would go after WWE. This would be in order to fill their airtime since a large chunk of their programming is currently tied to UFC.
– Meltzer says there is also talk of FOX attempting to buy WWE. This would be to lock them in for the long-term. He also says that Vince McMahon is not currently interested in selling his majority stake in WWE. The company’s upcoming TV deal will likely raise WWE’s stock. As a result, Vince could continue to sell off shares but would remain in voting control. Still, if Vince received a UFC type offer from FOX, he would likely sell according to Meltzer.
– IF (big if), WWE did go to fox, that would mean RAW would likely go back to 2 hours. This is because FOX has newscasts at 10:00 PM on many of their stations. Smackdown would likely move to FOX Sports 1 to help boost ratings.

Obvious there is a lot of ‘ifs’ in this situation and we will have to wait and see what happens between FOX and the UFC first. Still intriguing to see hope that RAW could move to 2 hours.
