Kane and Braun Strowman faced off in the main event of Monday Night RAW. RAW ended after Strowman powerslammed Kane through the ring in a wild moment. You might not have noticed that the match never officially started. The referee never rang the bell.
So why did WWE not have the match officially start?
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), there is a potential reason why the match never officially started.
Meltzer speculates that the only reason WWE didn’t start the match is because they want to save it for a later show. The idea would be that their RAW encounter didn’t count because the bell technically didn’t ring. WWE can play up the idea that them officially facing off again would still be a big deal.
It is also likely that this match takes place on RAW instead of on a future Pay-Per-View. The next RAW exclusive event is not until February and it likely won’t happen at the Royal Rumble.
