This week’s episode of Smackdown Live saw General Manager Daniel Bryan make a bombshell announcement. Next week, John Cena will face off against Shinsuke Nakamura. The winner will earn themselves a chance at the WWE Championship at Summerslam against Jinder Mahal.
This was a shock to many because Nakamura vs Cena has been pegged as a ‘dream match’ from a number of fans (including myself). This match has the potential to headline a big-time Pay-Per-View. Why would WWE give it away on free television?
This match has already seen a ton of debate surrounding it. Who should win and face Jinder at Summerslam? Does WWE really want to have John Cena defeat Shinsuke Nakamura (or vice versa) on a random episode of Smackdown Live?
We might have gotten a big hint from the rumored Summerslam poster. This poster includes Cena, Nakamura and Jinder. Everybody else on the poster is paired off in a feud for Summerslam, making it a potential hint that we are getting a triple threat: Cena vs Mahal vs Nakamura.

What seems logical is for something to happen that causes this match to end in disqualification. This would lead to a triple threat at Summerslam. It would also A) Keep both Cena and Nakamura from taking a loss right now. B) Tease Cena vs Nakamura for when WWE does do it at a big Pay-Per-View.
