The Original Plans For The Clash Of Champions 2017 Main Event

WWE’s Clash of Champions Pay-Per-View takes place on December 17th at the TD Garden in Boston. This will be a Smackdown exclusive event and the final big show for WWE in 2017.

Here is a note on what the original plans were for the main event of Clash of Champions.

According to Dave Meltzer on the November 5th edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), the main event of Clash of Champions was originally going to be Jinder Mahal vs AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.

News broke last week that Styles vs Jinder will actually be happening on the November 7th episode of Smackdown Live. This certainly raised the eyebrows of a lot of fans since Styles already had a match scheduled with Rusev for the episode.

It is unclear at the moment if WWE completely changed their plans. Regardless of the result on Smackdown, we still could see AJ vs Jinder main event Clash of Champions. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Speaking of WWE Pay-Per-Views, there is a rumor floating around about the schedule for 2018.
