We are still several weeks away from the ‘No Mercy’ Pay-Per-View and we already have two massive matches confirmed. Braun Strowman will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. The event will also see a big clash between Roman Reigns and John Cena.
Both matches have a claim to go on last as the main event. One match features the Universal Championship, the other features two of the biggest names in the company. There can only be one technical main event match that goes on last.
We might have gotten a hint in WWE.com’s preview for the Reigns vs Cena match. The preview notes that the match will be a “Wrestlemania-worthy main event”, which seems like a hint that it will be going on last.
“At WWE No Mercy, John Cena will battle Roman Reigns for the first time in what is sure to be a highly personal WrestleMania-worthy main event“
Some fans have said that a Cena vs Reigns match could main-event Wrestlemania so it is not much of a surprise that it could be the one going on last at ‘No Mercy’. Strowman vs Lesnar is still a huge match and has the WWE Universal Championship involved, giving it an argument to be the final match.
WWE could also pull their classic move and promote the event as having two main event matches (even though one technically still gets to go on last).
