Long-Term Plans For The New Day

The New Day lost their Smackdown Tag Team Championships to the Usos at Summerslam. This was a bit of a shock considering the team had just won the titles a month prior at WWE’s Battleground Pay-Per-View.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here). there could be a long-term plan in place for the New Day.

Rumors On The New Day

Meltzer says that there has been an idea thrown around that not only will the New Day be recognized as the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team of all-time (which they already are), they could also have the most title reigns when their career is over.

This would mean that by the end of their careers, they might end up with the most title victories in WWE history. This would help establish them as the greatest tag team in history (as far as accolades are concerned).

The New Day currently sit at 3 title victories. Their one reign was the record-breaking 483 days they held the titles to break Demolition’s record. They still have several title victories to go if they want to pass the Dudley Boyz, Edge & Christian and the Hardy Boyz.

This also serves as a possible explanation as to why they dropped the titles so quickly to the Usos. If this is all accurate, we can expect to see the New Day win the titles several more times before their careers are over.

We will have to wait and see what happens. The New Day are certainly on their way to becoming one of the most decorated teams in history already.

  1. Noooooo!!! The New Day doesn’t compare to the likes of the Dudley Boyz, Edge & Christian or the Hardyz for that matter! While they are entertaining and talented, they are not the same caliber as this teams I mentioned!
