No Mercy is less than 2 weeks away and we still don’t have a match announced for the Miz and his Intercontinental Championship. This comes after the Miz was on the kickoff show at Summerslam (in front of an empty crowd) and didn’t even defend his title at the event.
So what the heck is going on with the Intercontinental Title and No Mercy? Let’s dive into some of the latest rumors that are floating around.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the original plan for the Intercontinental Title at No Mercy was a match between the Miz and Jason Jordan.
The status now is completely up in the air after what has happened over the past few weeks. It looked like Jordan vs the Miz was being built towards but WWE went in opposite directions. Jeff Hardy won the battle royal and got a shot at the Miz and his title. The Miz last week also started a feud with Enzo Amore, someone who will be wrestling for the Cruiserweight Championship at No Mercy. As for Jordan, he has had some big matches over the past few weeks against: Finn Balor, John Cena and Roman Reigns but no interaction with the Miz.
There is less than two weeks to go until No Mercy, so what is WWE going to do?
Jason Jordan is currently working live event matches against the Miz. He remains the favorite to be the Miz’s opponent for the event but it will likely be a last-minute thing with not much build.
One thing is clear, the build for the Intercontinental Title over the past few months has been a mess.
