One of the marquee matches of Wrestlemania 33 is going to be Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens for the WWE United States Championship. This is a storyline that has been building for the past year with their friendship and subsequent break up at the ‘Festival of Friendship’. After being rumored for months, the match was set into motion.
On the March 6th episode of RAW it was confirmed that Jericho and Owens would face off at Wrestlemania for the United States title. Many fans are excited for this match, which is a great definition of long-term booking in WWE.
Here is the latest:
It is being rumored that Kevin Owens will be walking out of Wrestlemania with the U.S title. Jericho has no problem putting younger talent over (see Fandango at Wrestlemania 29). It is rumored that this entire storyline was designed for Owens to get a big Wrestlemania win against the established Y2J.
Jericho also announced that in May he will begin touring with his band: Fozzy. This gives us a hint that Jericho will be around in April on WWE TV but will be taking a hiatus after.

This is an obvious step-down for Owens after being WWE Universal Champion for the past several months. A title is still a title in WWE. Owens will have a chance to elevate the belt over the next few months. Regardless of what happens, Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens will be a very fun match.
