It was originally speculated after last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW that Summerslam could see a Women’s Fatal 4-Way match. This was looking to be Alexa Bliss defending her RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax, Sasha Banks and Bayley.
In a bit of a plot twist, it was announced this week that Bayley will face Sasha Banks on the July 24th episode of RAW. The winner will move on to face Alexa Bliss for the title at Summerslam.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here) notes that it looks like the plans have changed from a fatal 4-way, back to a singles match at Summerslam. This could be because WWE looks to be planning a fatal 4-way match for the Universal Title and probably don’t want to do two on the show.
Let’s speculate on some of the possibilities with the information at hand:
The first option would be that the match goes on as planned next week between Bayley and Sasha with no interference. The likely winner would be Sasha in our opinion because fans have already seen plenty of Bayley vs Bliss matches over the past few months. There were also rumors that WWE wants to keep the Sasha vs Alexa feud going because of the perceived real-life heat between them. In this scenario, Nia Jax and Bayley would take a backseat until after Summerslam.
The second option would be WWE just going ahead with the fatal 4-way. Nia interferes next week in the match between Bayley and Sasha. There were some rumors that there would likely be a few multi-person matches at Summerslam and does anyone really care if there are two fatal 4-way’s on the card?
