1) Unwritten Rule In WWE
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is an unwritten rule in WWE when it comes to Superstars and social media.
This rule is that Superstars aren’t supposed to go after one another on social media if it isn’t leading to a payoff (which means an eventual match between them). Here is what Meltzer said (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):
“The unwritten rule in WWE is if you go after somebody in public in your own company, or in someone else’s company you’re not supposed to do it unless you’re building up a match. In that case of course they’re supposed to do it at that point.”
Bryan Alvarez also noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Vince McMahon isn’t happy with Randy Orton and Tommaso Ciampa. This comes after Orton and Ciampa went after one another on social media this week. Here is what Alvarez said:
“The impression I was give is that Vince McMahon isn’t very happy about this. For those of you who may not know there are rules and then there’s Vince. Vince hates it when guys or women or whatever do something that teases a match that he’s not gonna do, but if he starts booking something that doesn’t pay off it’s totally fine. There’s a different set of rules.”
My Take:
- Orton vs Ciampa is a personal dream match of mine, so I hope that it does happen one day. I definitely buy this as one of Vince McMahon’s rules though.
