4) The Potential Winner Of The Women’s Royal Rumble Match
According to journalist Tom Colohue, the current favorite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match is Shayna Baszler.
Here is what Colohue had to say:
“Talking about the Royal Rumble, the most likely winners at the moment remain, Roman Reigns on the men’s side, and sort of a new contender for the female side, Shayna Baszler,When it comes to Shayna Baszler, she is a new favourite and looking at what’s happened in NXT, with Rhea Ripley winning the Championship, she is definitely a very strong contender. Becky Lynch might have to get eyes at the back of her head. She is out of competitors at this point, there is an outside chance that we may see Nia Jax back soon and she may be a contender to take on Becky Lynch, but Shayna seems the most likely at this point.
This is also reflected in the betting odds, where Shayna is the heavy favorite on most gambling websites.
My Take:
- Shayna would be a good pick. I am hoping for Sasha Banks though, which leads to jealousy from Bayley. That eventually leads to Bayley turning on Sasha and them facing off at Wrestlemania 36.
3) Two Possible Returns In The Women’s Royal Rumble Match
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWinsider, WWE is bringing Ruby Riott and Nia Jax to Houston for the Royal Rumble. This could be a big hint that they will be making their returns in the Women’s Rumble match. Both have been out of action for several months with injuries.
Here is what Johnson wrote:
WWE stars Nia Jax and Ruby Riott, who have been out of action for some time, are both set to be in Houston, Texas for the 2020 Royal Rumble, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
Jax has been out of action since Wrestlemania 35 due to ACL tears. She underwent successful surgery on both of her ACLs on April 25th of last year and has been recovering and rehabbing for the last ten months.
Riott has been out of action since May, last wrestling for the company at a live event in Cardiff, Wales as part of a Fatal Four Way. She underwent successful surgery of a “bilateral injury” to her right shoulder that same montn ahd later underwent the same surgery for her left shoulder. Riott was at the WWE Performance Center earlier this month.
While this does not confirm they are returning in the Women’s Rumble match, there are 25 slots left to be filled in the match and it has been some time since either have been on the road for WWE. So, we will see.
My Take:
- I definitely see a Nia Jax and Becky Lynch feud coming at some point. My hope is that WWE doesn’t do that match at Wrestlemania 36 though. I have always been a fan of Ruby and hope that WWE pushes her as a singles star upon her return.
2) Another Possible Return In The Women’s Royal Rumble Match
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is also bringing Naomi to Houston for the Royal Rumble. Here is what he wrote:
WWE star Naomi, who has not wrestled for the company since July of last year, is slated to be in Houston, Texas for the Royal Rumble PPV, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
Beyond appearances on WWE Total Divas, Naomi was last seen on camera defeating Sarah Logan on a July 2019 episode of WWE Main Event.
Johnson adds that Naomi is expected to join the Smackdown brand and will likely be in the Rumble match:
The word making the rounds is that she will be returning shortly and will be placed on the Smackdown brand. The Royal Rumble would be the most logical place for that return.
My Take:
- It would make sense for WWE to save Naomi’s return for this match. Smackdown is lacking strong babyfaces, so the division could use her.
