I have put together some mistakes that I think WWE should avoid making at the 2020 Royal Rumble PPV.
5) Cain Velasquez Wins The Royal Rumble Or Eliminates Brock Lesnar
Speculation is going around that Cain Velasquez could eliminate Brock Lesnar from the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Or, Cain could end up winning the entire thing. This would set up a WWE Title rematch between Cain and Brock at Wrestlemania 36.
Technically, their series is tied at 1-1. Cain won their fight in the UFC and Brock defeated Cain in their match at WWE Crown Jewel. While it is two different sports, I could see WWE trying to sell fans on a third fight between the two.
I think that Cain vs Brock at Wrestlemania 36 would be a mistake. Their match was lousy at Crown Jewel and I think that fans will be pissed if WWE starts building towards that. Cain winning the Rumble will only generate a negative reaction from fans and the crowd, which is what WWE will want to avoid.
I like Cain but I don’t want him in one of the main Title matches at Wrestlemania 36.
4) Not Including Keith Lee In The Men’s Royal Rumble Match
Another mistake that WWE should avoid is not having Keith Lee as an entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.
Keith Lee had an incredible performance at Survivor Series. He made it to the very end of the match before getting eliminated by Roman Reigns. This was a star-making performance for Lee and his stock skyrocketed after the event.
WWE now has a chance to keep that momentum going at the Rumble. All they have to do is have Keith Lee enter the Rumble match and have him go against some of the top guys in WWE. It would be awesome to see Lee square off against Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, and Drew McIntyre. It would also be awesome to see Lee reignite his rivalry with Roman Reigns in the match.
Lee putting on another great performance in the Rumble match would raise his stock even further. I think that it would be a mistake not to keep building on his momentum.
