6 Of The Biggest Rumors Heading Into No Mercy 2017

Brock Holding The Title Until ‘Mania

In a true clash of the titans, Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman at No Mercy.

The biggest rumor that you have probably stumbled upon is about Brock Lesnar and the WWE Universal Championship. The rumor suggests that Brock will hold on to the title until Wrestlemania 34.  This would eventually lead to a rematch between Brock and Roman Reigns, where Reigns would become Champion.

If this rumor is true, this would suggest that Brock Lesnar will be retaining his Title against Braun at No Mercy.

Not saying that Vince McMahon won’t change his mind, but if WWE sticks to the long-term plan, Brock will find a way to retain.

Protecting Braun

So if Brock Lesnar is going to be keeping the title (if rumors are correct of course), then what do they do with Braun Strowman?

Strowman has been on the receiving end of the massive push over the past year. It is unlikely that WWE has him lose the match against Brock clean. To defeat someone clean, it means without any outside interference,  distractions or cheap tactics. Simply one person getting the better of the other, leading to a pinfall or submission.

It seems unlikely that WWE will halt the push of Strowman by having him lose this match clean.

There is a rumor suggesting that Braun will not win the title but WWE will protect him in defeat. This would mean that the match will end in some sort of disqualification or count-out. We also could see Brock cheat to defeat Braun. Regardless of how it happens, it looks like WWE will protect Strowman in some way.

If this is true, don’t expect Braun to get pinned cleanly on Sunday.

Brock’s Schedule After No Mercy

An interesting note about the match between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman has to do with the schedule of Lesnar after No Mercy.

Brock currently isn’t being advertised for the TLC and Survivor Series Pay-Per-Views. If this is accurate, this means that we might not be seeing Brock again until the Royal Rumble.

This leaves us with a couple of possibilities if this is true:

  1. Brock will be retaining the title and we won’t see him defend it until the Rumble.
  2. Brock will be losing the title and will not be coming back until the Rumble
  3. Brock will be destroyed by Braun, writing him off TV for the next few months.

Keeping in mind the previous two rumors that suggest Brock will keep the title and Braun will be protected, numbers 1 and 3 look like the most likely. This could mean Brock retains but Strowman destroys him and writes him off TV for the next few months.

Brock’s schedule is certainly interesting and something to think about heading into the match. Maybe Braun shocks the world and the rumor mill and defeats Brock. We will have to wait and see.
