As you have probably heard by now, WWE has cancelled ‘Talking Smack’ as a weekly show. Instead of airing after Smackdown and 205 Live every week, the show will be moving to only after Pay-Per-View events. This will be similar to what WWE currently does with their show: ‘RAW Talk’.
The initial reasoning seemed to be simple enough… The show wasn’t doing great numbers on the WWE Network and was cancelled as a result. It turns out that there is much more to it if this new report is true.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is reporting that it was Vince McMahon’s decision to cancel the show and it has nothing to do with low viewership.
According to the report, Vince made the decision to end the show because he felt like it didn’t serve the company’s best interests. This is due to the shows unscripted nature. The report also states that the long-term plan is to get rid of the show all together, even though WWE says it will stick around for after Pay-Per-Views.
WWE released this statement about the show getting cancelled:
“We continuously review WWE Network’s programming line-up based on a variety of factors, including viewership and subscriber research. Talking Smack and Raw Talk will air following pay-per-view events, and Tuesday will continue to feature 205 Live.”
