3) Title Match Scrapped From The Money In The Bank PPV
Over the past few weeks, there were some rumors floating around that Charlotte Flair vs Io Shirai could happen at the Money in the Bank PPV. Many fans thought that this was going to be the case because the poster for the PPV originally included Charlotte Flair on it, front-and-center.
WWE has now updated the poster and has removed Charlotte Flair. As a result, Charlotte vs Io has been scrapped from the Money in the Bank PPV.
My Take:
- This isn’t surprising as WWE hasn’t brought Shirai to RAW over the past few weeks. I feel like if WWE was doing this match at Money in the Bank, Shirai would have attacked Charlotte on RAW at some point. Still, this tells us that WWE was originally planning the match for the PPV.
2) The Filming Of The Money In The Bank Ladder Matches
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided some backstage details about the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV. This comes after it was announced that the ‘Climb the Corporate ladder’ matches will be taking place at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.
According to Sapp, the ladder matches have already been taped in advance. Superstars were flown in a few weeks ago to tape the matches and the filming went from the early morning until around midnight. Filming was said to be “tedious” and it was noted to him that there was a lot of “hurry up and wait” for the next shot to be set up. Sapp added the following about the filming:
Fightful was told that the matches were filmed in a more cinematic manner, but we don’t know if it will be more akin to the Boneyard Match, The Firefly Funhouse match, or the Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano match. Talent were also trying to stay warm during filming as they’d have to go from standing around to bumping on short notice.
It was also noted that there was a hiccup that happened during filming, which caused them to stop for a period of time. It is unclear what it was but the issue was eventually settled and they were able to finish filming.
My Take:
- I am excited to see the finished product. There is so much potential for fun moments and I can’t wait to see what they come up with. Say what you want about WWE but they have found a way to get me fired up for this PPV.
