Mistake #1: Not Having A Clear Plan In Place For The Winner
The biggest mistake that I think WWE needs to avoid is them not having a clear plan in place for the winner of the tournament.
In my opinion, the tournament needs to be used as a launching pad for someone’s career. We have seen this happen in past tournaments. An example that sticks out is Stone Cold Steve Austin winning the tournament in 1996 and catching fire. Fans always go back to the moment where Austin won the tournament as a starting point for his incredible run.
I am not saying that anybody will catch fire like Austin but this tournament could really help launch the career of one of these Superstars. If you are going to have someone like Andrade win, don’t just do it to give him the accolade. If it happens, they need to go all-in on Andrade and push him into the main event picture. Use the tournament to elevate a Superstar and then make sure to follow up on that in the months after.
They need to have a clear plan in place for the winner. Have a plan so that in six months from now, the tournament winner is still sticking around the top of the card. Don’t just use this tournament to pop the ratings. In my opinion, it would be a major botch if this tournament doesn’t end up helping someones career
