5 Mistakes That WWE Needs To Avoid In The 2019 King Of The Ring Tournament

Mistake #3: Not Adding Any Stakes To The Tournament

I think that it would be a mistake for WWE to not add any stakes to the King of the Ring tournament. Not only should the winner be crowned as the King but they should also receive some added perks for winning.

If it was up to me, I would give the winner a future World Title shot. That could be at either Clash of Champions or Hell in a Cell. That way, fans would get even more invested into the tournament. If I know that one of my favorites could be getting a Title match against Kofi Kingston or Seth Rollins, my excitement level would rise while watching. I am sure that others feel the same way.

I think that it would be a mistake for WWE to just crown the winner as King and move on. They need to raise the stakes a little bit this year.

Mistake #2: Saddling The Winner With The ‘King’ Gimmick

In the past, WWE has saddled Superstars with the ‘King’ gimmick after they won the tournament. Some have been successful, like ‘King Booker’. A lot of others have flopped though.

If it was up to me, I wouldn’t have the winner be forced to adopt a King gimmick and wear the crown for the next few months. Instead, I would just give them a trophy and a World Title shot (like I mentioned before).

Just imagine Samoa Joe winning the tournament and being forced to wear a crown. Or, imagine WWE trying to turn Drew McIntyre into the King of Scotland. I feel like it would do more damage than it would do good.

I am sure that some guys could make it work but I would rather WWE skip the King gimmick for the winner this year. Let them refer to themselves as the King but don’t make them wear the outfit for several months.
