WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia for another big event called WWE Crown Jewel. The event is scheduled to take place on November 2nd in Riyadh, which is the capital city of Saudi Arabia. There are already a few matches confirmed for the event, including Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs Kane and the Undertaker.
WWE is now facing some mainstream heat for the upcoming show.
For those out of the loop, this is stemming from the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who was allegedly killed in the Saudi Consulate. Companies with ties to the Saudi Arabia government have now come under criticism. This includes WWE, who will be running the Crown Jewel PPV in a few weeks (which is being funded by the Saudi government).
WWE sent out the following statement to media outlets on the situation:
“We are currently monitoring the situation,”
We will let you know if WWE makes any other comments. This is supposed to be show number 2 in what is a 10-year deal between WWE and Saudi Arabia.
Will WWE cancel the show due to fear of public scrutiny? Or will they continue on with the plans? We will have to wait and see.
A reminder that we are a pro-wrestling website and don’t want to get involved in any political debates of any kind. We are only keeping you updated because of the Crown Jewel show and the potential implications on it.
