We have all had people ask us why we watch professional wrestling. “You know it is fake right?” is a common question asked when discussing your love for the WWE or professional wrestling in general. As wrestling fans, we know ‘Fake’ is certainly the wrong word to describe it. Sure the storylines are scripted and the punches are pulled but that doesn’t take away from the real toll that it takes on the performers bodies. The risks that they take are real and the injuries are not scripted. Here is a compilation of WWE stars that have defended professional wrestling against the word ‘fake’. This will prove to you that wrestling isn’t fake, not even close.
Wrestling Isn’t Fake, Just Ask These WWE Stars
1) Titus O’Neil
Titus O’Neil was interviewed back in 2013 where he was asked what his response was to critics that say wrestling is fake.
Here is what he said:
“You think it’s fake? If I pick you up and slam you into the ground, you’re going to feel it. If you get hit in the back with a chair, you’re going to feel it. You can’t fake that stuff. We’re trained professionals. I think of myself as an entertainer, but I’m definitely an athlete, too” {Source).
This is just one of the many examples that you will see of wrestlers that don’t take kindly to people calling their profession fake.
2) Austin Aries
Back in 2015, UFC President Dana White made some comments about Professional Wrestling being fake. As you can imagine, this made a number of wrestlers angry, considering the real toll it takes on their bodies. Austin Aries was someone who was very unhappy with the words from Dana White. He took to twitter multiple times to respond to his comments and defend professional wrestling.
Here were some of his responses:
“Not disrespecting what they do…just, you know, disrespecting what they do.”
Poor choice of words @danawhite. https://t.co/02VI6R28ff

This is what a “fake” head butt looks like @danawhite…complete w/ “fake” blood, stitches, and imaginary time off. pic.twitter.com/pHtgILIRdP

We have TV makeup ladies ringside to paint on the illusion of bruises during matches…and we get water breaks too. https://t.co/fWIaTvLXVc

To those like @danawhite that’ve never done this, the word FAKE is offensive to those who endure the very REAL physicality of pro wrestling.

Some great words from Aries.
Here are some more wrestlers who will argue that Wrestling Isn’t Fake.
