According to a report from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, a WWE developmental talent recently tested positive for COVID-19. WWE is now planning to test all Superstars and employees for the virus.
WWE’s Associate Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, issued a statement to Satin. Here is what he issued:
“A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”
Satin also added the following on Twitter:
From what I’m told, the person who tested positive for COVID-19 in WWE was a Performance Center trainee. Not someone who is on NXT TV.
UPDATE #1: Sean Ross Sapp noted on Twitter that the WWE talent he spoke to didn’t find out about the positive test until the news broke:
The talent I’ve spoken to say that they found out about the positive COVID-19 test when the rest of the world did. Last time they were informed via a talent relations app about five days before news broke.
UPDATE #2: John Pollock of POST Wrestling noted on Twitter that WWE has canceled their television taping on Tuesday in response to this:
From two sources – WWE tapings will not be taking place on Tuesday.
Was told by one they are hoping to resume on Wednesday.
