Daniel Bryan‘s first PPV singles match since coming out of retirement happens on Sunday. He will face off against Big Cass at Backlash. This will also be the first singles match for Cass since he returned from tearing his ACL.
So what is going to happen in the match between Bryan and Cass at Backlash? Let’s speculate.
Regardless of the match result, I predict that it is going to be a VERY bad night for Daniel Bryan. Let me explain.
If you look at this match, it is the perfect opportunity to get some heat on Cass. WWE is clearly booking him as a monster heel and I think the company has big plans for him moving forward. As a result, I see Cass completely destroying Daniel Bryan after the match. This will be a major beating, leaving fans booing and Bryan injured. The main goal of this is to get some more heat on Cass, win or lose.
You could make the argument for either guy winning the actual match. Bryan could get the pinfall victory, followed up by getting destroyed by Cass. They could also have Cass win the match and continue the beating post-match. Either option does the trick as a way to generate some heat.
There is still plenty of story to be told between these two. I think that they will have another match at next month’s Money in the Bank PPV. I think they should use the Backlash match to build Cass up as a monster heel. It doesn’t make sense to me for Bryan to win cleanly here unless they don’t care about building Cass.
Speaking of Cass, here is the French translation of what the fans were chanting at him on Smackdown in Montreal.
How do you think the match will end?
