Wrestlemania 36 Rumors And Spoilers

1) Why Sasha Banks vs Bayley Isn’t Happening At Wrestlemania 36

Bayley will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Title against 5 other women at Wrestlemania 36. It will be Bayley vs Sasha Banks vs Lacey Evans vs Naomi vs Tamina in an elimination match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Many fans have been wondering why WWE isn’t doing Sasha Banks vs Bayley at the event instead.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE was originally planning to do Sasha Banks vs Bayley at the event but they changed their mind.

WWE decided against doing the match since they won’t have time to build a proper storyline. While saying that, the plan is to still do the match between them at some point down the road. Here is what Meltzer said:

It’s actually the kick-off of, you know the company actually wanted to do Bayley and Sasha at WrestleMania, and to their credit, given that there is no time to build it up like literally, this came up a week or two ago, and they just thought, well we just can’t do a match after four weeks of no build, so they kind of got it pushed with like, okay, we’ll do the six-way which would like be the start and we’ll do the singles match when it’s not so rushed. So that’s kind of where that is.

My Take:
  • I hope that Sasha turns babyface and Bayley remains a heel. I am a fan of Bayley’s heel character and I don’t want her to change. Heel Sasha has been solid as well but I would prefer to see her as a babyface Champion. Either way, I would save Bayley vs Sasha for Summerslam in Boston. It would be a great moment for Sasha to win the belt in her hometown. WWE will also likely be turning Summerslam into their biggest show of the year because of this coronavirus pandemic.
