In the opening segment, Cena played to the crowd like he usually does. We typically see him toe the line between heel and face to match his split crowd reaction.

As we mentioned prior, Cena told fans that he would be challenging for the WWE World Title at the Royal Rumble. “Why? Because I am John Cena… Recognize”

The promo was a lot more heelish than usual from Cena. I am not sure if WWE would ever pull the trigger on turning him but it looks like we could be in store for an edgier Cena moving forward.
