Several months back, Vince McMahon announced his plans to reboot the XFL. During this time, news broke that Vince had sold some of his WWE shares for around $100 million dollars. This was reportedly in order to fund the XFL-reboot.
According to a new report, Vince’s financial commitment to the XFL is said to be MUCH larger than $100 million.
Darren Rovell of ESPN says that according to insiders, Vince is expected to spend close to $500 million dollars in the first 3 years of the league.
Here is an excerpt from the article from XFL CEO and commissioner Oliver Luck:
“Luck said the biggest cost will be the salaries to pay players and coaches. Luck, for the first time, said the average salary for the 40-man rosters will hover around $75,000, with players that are more in demand making much more than that. Players in the first iteration of the XFL, co-owned by McMahon and NBC, paid players an average of $45,000 for a 10-week schedule”
Insurance premiums will reportedly come to more than $10 million a year for the league.
