Vince McMahon Teases Some Big Plans For 205 Live In The Future

WWE hosted a conference call with investors to speak about the companies fourth-quarter earnings. As mentioned prior, WWE reported that 2016 marked the highest earnings in the company’s history. It looks like they are trying to expand upon that in 2017 with some big plans.

One of the highlights of the conference call was Vince McMahon speaking about their big plans for 205 Live and the Cruiserweight division.

There were some rumors that 205 Live and the Cruiserweight division might be abandoned soon after having less than stellar results. It appears as if this is NOT the case in the slightest.

On the earnings call, Vince said the company has some big plans for 205 Live, planning to create new revenue from: merchandise, licensing and live events. These 3 things would turn 205 Live into a brand similar to NXT with their own merchandise, live events and more. The idea is to make them into their own separate entity rather than just an extension of RAW or Smackdown.

Vince didn’t give a specific timetable, but this is something they are heavily discussing and figuring out right now.

Pretty interesting that WWE is considering doing live events with strictly the Cruiserweight division. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

WWE has already started with merchandise for 205 Live. TJ Perkins has a shirt on WWE Shop (buy here) and we can assume that more will be coming.

  1. Weird, considering that having no interaction between the divition and the roster is one of the main problems with the cruiserweights, and maybe some of the reasons they didn´t get good results..
