Kevin Owens had a pretty memorable debut on the WWE main roster. Owens interrupted John Cena’s U.S Title open challenge on his first night. He ended up laying out Cena and making one heck of a first impression.
Owens recently told the story about what Vince McMahon told him backstage before his main roster debut. This came on his appearance on Talk is Jericho.
Vince didn’t want the other wrestlers backstage to know what Owens was going to be doing. Owens wasn’t sure how he would accomplish this while wearing his ring gear. Here are some quotes (h/t to Still Real To Us):
Kevin asked: “You want me in my gear right?”, Vince replied: “Yup.”
Owens was a bit confused by this, asking Vince: “When I put my gear on, and I walk in the locker room and stuff, and in the hallway, the other wrestlers will see me and ask me why I have my gear on. So, what should I tell them?”
Vince’s response was “Well, why don’t you just tell them to go f**k themselves,”
A pretty memorable debut and conversation with Vince.
