Vince McMahon Reportedly Considering Some Big Names For Special Guest Referee Role At Survivor Series

There was a report earlier in the week that WWE was looking to add a special guest referee at Survivor Series. This would be for the match between Jinder Mahal and Brock Lesnar.

The initial name that was floating around as the referee was John Cena. It turns out that there are a few more big names being rumored for the role.

Who else is being considered?

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestling Inc), Vince McMahon is also considering The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin for the role as special guest referee.

The issue with the Rock is that he is extremely busy. Plus, it would likely cost WWE a lot of money to bring him. It is unlikely a match would come out of either the Rock or Austin being the referee.

The report also mentions that even though Austin is fully retired, there is still some intrigue in him being in the ring with Brock. Even if it is only in a referee role.

With names like Cena, Steve Austin and the Rock being rumored, WWE clearly wants a major name in this role. On Wrestling Observer Radio a few days ago, Meltzer noted that the reason for the special guest referee is for there to be “someone who would be intriguing in the ring with Brock Lesnar”.
