Shane McMahon’s backstage role will be made clear when he ‘tells all’ on May 23rd 2016.
Many readers have asked us if Shane McMahon has a backstage role with the WWE as well as being an on-screen talent. Shane serves as the current RAW decision maker (along with his sister Stephanie McMahon). Shane had been absent from WWE TV since 2009 before returning a couple months ago, pursuing his own business ventures outside of the WWE. Shane wanted to try other things outside of the WWE Universe, but it has been long rumored that he clashes backstage with his father from a business standpoint. He was the CEO of You On Demand based in China before stepping down but still remains Vice President of the board. It appears that Shane is back in the WWE but only as an on-screen talent.
During the conference call for the 2016 first quarter WWE earnings report, Vince McMahon emphasized that Shane is doing well as an on-screen talent. He praised his match at WrestleMania 32 and didn’t mention anything about Shane McMahon’s backstage role with the company when he was asked. It seems like Shane is only around as a character and didn’t come back to get involved in a business or executive role (at least for now).

Shane McMahon was announced as a guest on a ‘tell all’ podcast on May 23rd hosted by Mick Foley. I think they will answer the question about his backstage involvement on that forum so we will get the final answer. For right now it sounds like Shane will just be used on TV. We will update when we know anymore information!
Let us know your thoughts or if you would like to see Shane be involved from a business standpoint in the WWE.
He has to be doing some backstage work also. No doubt in my mind
