Update On The WWE Contract Status Of The Hardy Boyz After Smackdown

Smackdown Live this week featured the return of Matt Hardy to WWE television. Not only that, we also got to see the Hardy Boyz reunite! They defeated the Bar on the episode.

This comes only a few days after Matt revealed that his WWE contract was set to expire soon.

We have an update for you on the contract status of Matt and Jeff after their Smackdown appearance.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the belief is that WWE has invoked a clause in the Hardy’s contract, which extends them for another year.

Had WWE not rolled over the contract, it would have expired in early March.

My Take: To make a sports analogy, I assume this is like the team option contracts in the NBA. That means WWE had the option to extend the deal or let them go. They ultimately made the decision to keep them for another year. If this is true, it means that the Hardy’s signed a two-year deal back in 2017, with an option for the third year.

Regardless, I am happy to see the Hardy Boyz back together. I think that they have plenty to give in the tag team division.

On a related note, here are the tag teams that Matt said have a big future in WWE.
